Benefits of Sound Baths
Reduction in Tension and Improved Mood
In an observational study enhanced with data from a 2016 study of 62 adults, participants not only reported significant decreases in tension, anger, fatigue, and depressed mood after a sound bath, but also experienced a notable increase in spiritual well-being. This combined analysis offers a deeper understanding of the broad emotional benefits of sound bath therapy, particularly highlighting its significant impact in reducing tension, anxiety, and negative moods after therapy sessions.
Potential Improvement in Blood Pressure & Heart Rate
A systematic review by Stanhope and Weinstein on singing bowl therapies reported notable health improvements such as reduced distress and anxiety, and better blood pressure and heart rate. However, due to the small number of studies and possible biases, more in-depth research is recommended for conclusive evidence.
Enhancement of Emotional and Spiritual Well-Being
The study showed that singing bowl sound healing significantly improved spiritual well-being, and these improvements were correlated with reductions in tension and depression. The research highlights the potential of sound baths in enhancing emotional and spiritual health, particularly in reducing negative emotional states.
Decrease in Preoperative Anxiety
In a 2018 randomized controlled study involving 60 participants, 30 were asked to listen to the music of Tibetan singing bowls before undergoing surgery, while the other 30 were given headphones with no music. This study, which found a significant decrease in anxiety levels among patients who listened to Tibetan music, underlines the effectiveness of sound therapy in clinical settings for alleviating preoperative anxiety. It highlights the practical application and benefits of sound therapy in medical environments, especially for reducing anxiety before surgery.
